Clean up a photo of your signature
Turn a phone photo or scan of your signature into a clean PNG or JPG: white or transparent background, the pixel size you need, under your KB limit. Your signature never leaves your device.
Ink is looked for only inside the box. Drag a corner, or focus it and use the arrow keys (Shift for bigger steps), or type edges as % of the photo.
Move right to keep fainter strokes, left to remove leftover shadow.
10 to 4000 px. The signature is scaled to fit without stretching; the rest is margin. Leave both empty to keep the cropped size.
5 to 5000 KB. Leave empty for no limit.
How it works
The tool estimates the paper's brightness across the photo with a large blur and divides each pixel by it. This evens out shadows and uneven light. Pixels darker than the cut-off become ink; the rest becomes white or transparent. Large dark areas at the photo's edge, like a desk, are skipped. It crops to the ink, adds your margin and scales the signature to your pixel size without stretching it. For JPG with a size limit, it picks the highest quality that fits. Sizes use 1 KB = 1,000 bytes, so the result also fits forms that count 1 KB as 1,024 bytes.
Is my signature uploaded?
No. Everything happens inside your browser, so your signature stays on your phone or computer. Use this tool only for your own signature.
Tips for a good signature photo
- Sign on plain white paper with a dark pen. A thicker pen stays clearer at small sizes like 140 × 60.
- Take the photo in daylight, straight from above, and let the signature fill most of the frame.
- Keep printed lines and text away from the signature. Dark marks count as ink; if the crop is too big, drag the signature area box tighter.
Questions
Which pixel size and KB limit should I use?
Some forms ask for sizes like 140 × 60 pixels and 10–20 KB, but rules differ, so check your portal's rules and type in its numbers. If the form also sets a minimum file size, check the size shown under the preview.
Why is my PNG over the limit?
PNG is lossless, and this tool does not reduce its colours. Choose “JPG, white background” or a smaller pixel size.
Parts of my signature disappeared or grey patches remain
Move the cut-off slider right to keep light strokes, or left to remove leftover shadow. If ruled lines remain, move the slider to the left. Very faint pencil or ink close to the paper colour may not separate well; retake the photo with a darker pen.
Can I put the transparent signature in a PDF or Word file?
Yes. Choose “PNG, transparent background”, then insert it as a picture. Checkered areas in the preview are see-through. To combine scans into one PDF under a limit, use images to PDF under a KB limit. For a photo under a limit, use compress image to exact KB.
